The Lakewood community in East Dallas presents a more hilly topography filled with many mature and lush trees. There are miles of bike and jogging paths and it surrounds the only natural lake in Dallas, the scenic White Rock Lake.
Charm abounds in housing constructed in the 20’s and 30’s.
Lakewood Blvd provides picturesque Tudors, many Spanish colonial houses, and Craftsman cottages in varied price ranges. Convenience to Downtown makes this area a popular residential destination. Nearby are the Dallas Arboretum, The Bath House Cultural Center and the historic Lakewood shopping center.
Contiguous to Lakewood are other attractive and interesting historic housing areas including the Swiss Avenue mansions, Munger Place and Hollywood Heights which is adjacent to the verdant Samuell Grand Park and Public Golf Course.
The neighborhood is home of the historic Lakewood Theater, which shows classic films and hosts many contemporary musical and comedy events, as well as the popular Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Surrounding the theater are trendy and landmark restaurants and shopping venues. The neighborhood is also home to Lakewood Country Club.
